High Availability for Intel
Applied Technologies recognise the importance of your Intel server environment. There is often very little point in protecting your main Unix or System I server with comprehensive HA solutions, only to neglect your server farm that provides equally vital services to your users.
We recommend two solutions.
VMWare's vSphere HA Product for system failover:
Provide high availability across your entire virtualised IT environment without the cost or complexity of traditional clustering solutions. VMware HA provides cost-effective high availability for any application running in a virtual machine, regardless of its operating system or underlying hardware configuration.
The combination of VMware Fault Tolerance and VMware HA delivers the availability needed by applications in virtual machines, independent of the operating system and application running in it. VMware HA provides uniform, cost-effective failover protection against hardware and operating system failures within your virtualised IT environment.
•Monitors virtual machines to detect operating system and hardware failures.
•Restarts virtual machines on other physical servers in the resource pool without manual intervention when server failure is detected.
•Protects applications from operating system failures by automatically restarting virtual machines when an operating system failure is detected.
DoubleTake for off site replication :
The Covenco Recovery Services team provide off site servers and data storage in conjunction with Double Take software to provide a full off site replication solution. Double Take's software suite includes functionality for :
• Disaster recovery and high availability for critical servers across any distance and any combination of physical and virtual server environments.
• Performing live server migrations across any physical or virtual hardware platform (P2V, V2V, V2P, X2X)
• Backup and recovery of full server workloads and providing continuous data protection (CDP) for point-in-time restoration
• Provisioning workstations and PXE boot servers to ease deployment and management of enterprise data centres
